Rob Wetton looked out his window - - then probably went back to bed, but not before uploading today's scene to the Pasty Cam. Wonder what they would do out here in Redding, CA if they got a coupla feeta white stuff in a coupla days? That's the report from parts of the Copper Country. Wonder just how much they got?

I picked up a nifty mapping program for this new laptop, and maybe later today can start givin updates from the different localities.

Good night from California - - and good morning from da U.P.

We are being buried alive U.P. here! Send Help!
:-D

By Alex Snowless Tiensivu on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 11:21 am:

Dear "me"...

Please feel free to ship off as much of the white stuff as you can to P.O. Box S.N.O.W., Snellville, GA. We will be more than happy to take it off your hands! (I am green with envy and drooling over these pix!)

By T. L. Longpre, Greenville, South Carolina on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 12:05 pm:

I second that, Alex! I'm not green with envy, but yellow with all of the pollen coating everything here in South Carolina and making us all sneeze. A little snow might be just what the doctor ordered!

:)

ENOUGH OF WINTER!!!!!!!

By Sharon, CA on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 12:42 pm:

I can't believe all the snow at this time of year. We went to Copper Harbor for the first time last summer and I've been looking at your pictures ever since. Absolutely beautiful! And if Toivo gets to San Leandro, Ca (across the bay from SF) give us a holler! via email of course.

By Fran,Ga on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 01:51 pm:

Hi "me", along with Alex and TL, I would love some of that snow to cover up all of this green junk covering everything. Alot of sneezing and sinus problems around here.
The snow sure is beautiful.

By Penny GA on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 01:58 pm:

Hi "me" I agree with Alex in GA, TL in SC and Fran in GA!! The yellow stuff all over everything is making my sinus cavities hurt and I cough and sneeze all day! WE NEEEEEEED SNOW, pleeeeeeeeeez send some down here!!

By Rob Wetton, Houghton,Mi on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:15 pm:

No Toivo......couldn't go back to bed. Had to get to work. But I did leave work early to clean up the yard. And again this morning. Where is spring?

By Jim, Twin Cities on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:25 pm:

If ya got it, ya don't want it. If ya don't have it, ya want it. Tee Hee. That's the way we are. Me too. I'm sitting here in the Twin Cities where we got about an inch and it's mostly gone now. I'd like some more, even now as it's part of early spring here. But I haven't had to shovel over 200 inches this winter like you in Copper Country. It does look beautiful though, on the Bridge Cam and the MTU View Cam.

By j.b.laurium,mi on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:03 pm:

I want to go golfing!!!! i am depressed with all this snow, come on spring enough is enough all ready.

By Nita, Northwestern CA on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:11 pm:

Hey Toivo,
You shoulda hung a right at Redding and travelled
the beautiful Hwy 299W past Weaverville sitting at the base of the Salmon/Trinity Alps and then continued on west following the spectacular Trinity Scenic Highway following the gorgeous Trinity River famous for its steelhead and salmon fishing and wonderful whitewater sports of rafting and kayaking. You do't know what you missed !!

By PJ, MI on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:36 pm:

An answer to all of the questions about one of our favorite contributors of fantastic photographs is on page 1C of today's DMG.

By d.k. in calumet on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:40 pm:

j.b. you don't know how to golf anyway, so you should just enjoy the beautiful snow.

As a rule mans a fool
When it's hot he wants it cool
When it's cool he wants it hot
He always wants it what it's not

I like the cool

By P.K., Nashville,TN on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:56 pm:

What a great pic. I'd like to put it on my Christmas cards for next year.
J.B. in Laurium, come to Tennessee to golf The grass is green, it has had its first cut for the year just to look somewhat tidy. The tulips are up. Tonight we are cold again, some frost. Spring is coming, but slowly. I don't like the tornados we are prone to get in the Spring when it warms up to fast. You'all be nice and green when I get there in July.
Toivo, keep up the travelog. We are all enjoying it.

By Proud Yooper - MI on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 05:38 pm:

One of our very own Pasty cam photographer, Taka, is featured in the Daily Mining Gazette today. Very nice article Taka. If you decide to leave our area when you graduate in May from MTU, Please keep the photos coming. Good luck with your future endeavors.

By cak on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 06:12 pm:

Proud Yooper: Can you provide a link to the DMG on the article of Taka?

By Marsha, Genesee on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 07:27 pm:

I also want to read the article about Taka but could not find it on the Gazette website. Help, please! I can usually identify a Taka photo before knowing who shot it!

By Candy, CA on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 08:59 pm:

Hello from Toivo's new neck of the woods! cak and Marsha, here's the Gazette url: http://www.mininggazette.com/ , but I couldn't find anything about Taka, either. Unfortunately, the online edition of the DMG doesn't include everything in the paper edition (to tempt you to purchase a subscription). Maybe we can find a kindly soul who will scan in the article and/or picture so we can give Taka the applause she most definitely deserves....

Toivo, make sure to break out the sunscreen for tomorrow -- should be another glorious day here in Central California; 80s and sunny. The spring breezes have died down a bit for the weekend, and the flowers, leaves and birds are a sight to behold!

By Ken from da UP on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 09:52 pm:

Is Candy,CA teasing Taka? Taka's a he not a she. We've had mostly rain and sleet here in Cornell. 'Course tomorrow's another day. :o)

By dlp-painesdale, MI on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 09:58 pm:

The snow finally let up a tad, after receiving between 7-15 inches by Friday Morning (depending on which part of the weather board measured) and the 24" on the board this AM here in Painesdale for a total snowfall somewhere in the range of 3 feet. Doesn't stop us from getting out and heading to work. Hope this is the last snowstorm of the season.

By Proud Yooper - MI on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 10:43 pm:

THIS IS A REQUEST:
Would someone please scan the article in (3/29)Saturday's DMG of Pasty Cam photographer Taka? He is big contributer of photos on this site. There are several that would like to see it and the Gazette does not have it on their web site. It was a Q&A article. It's on page 1C. We learned that he is 27 years old. Thank you. Kiitos!

By An out of his element yooper, the land of trolls, downstate,MI on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 10:49 pm:

I wish I was there!! I tell ya. You'd think that if a relative is going to die they'd check with you first to see if it was convienant for you. Oh well. It got down to 30 degrees here in Kalamazoo today! I'm not sure I can take all this heat! :-)

By Molson in Burnsville on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 12:28 am:

R.J. in St. Paul, When My mother past away a few years ago, I inherited alot of old c.c. pics and most of them in winter, if you like to see them give an e-mail

By Jean, Devon, England on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 06:36 am:

Sounds as though Devon is at the same stage, spring wise, as Nashville. The early daffodils are dying back now and it's just the late ones that're blooming. The blossom trees are in full flower and looking a real picture. Tulips and hyacinths are in flower now. Spring in England is really marvellous - especially Cornwall. The first cut of grass was done over a week ago - that smell of cut grass with the heat of the sun on it says summmer is a-coming!! (not that we get much of a summer)

What seems appropiate to say now that's been said here before in the past, considering all the above>>>>
"No Winter Lasts Forever"
"No Spring Skips It's Turn"
and>> "The New Snow Is The Death of The Old"
(old Finnish proverbs!)

By yo on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 - 08:10 pm:
