My husband Albert Butkovich and friends Ken Lutz and Dave Haataja were ice fishing Sunday (last) out from Jacobsville. Ken Lutz snapped a picture of a small airplane getting ready to land. They couldn't believe their eyes when some fellas came out of the plane and started fishing! No they weren't FLYFISHING they were ICEFISHING! Or are they doing both? It's hard to make out the plane because it was quite foggy. The tents are also hard to make out. I thought maybe your viewers would get a kick out of this one. Only in the Copper Country!!!

When I was a kid (over 30 years ago), I was fortunate to live on Isle Royale on Mott Island (I was a Park brat). One night when my dad (superintendent) and I were out fishing, we saw the Cessna Seaplane stationed at Mott come over to near where we were trolling and start fishing, too. At least he didn't have to fly to get there. The next day my dad made available to the pilot a boat so he could go fishing a little more economically. My sister and I used to call Isle Royale, Alcatraz, or the Rock. The only way to spend those teenage days were fishing, canoeing, and burning up boat gas cruising up and down the harbor. Oh, how I would give anything to have those carefree days back again, living on the Rock!!
