I'm sure most folks know that the Swedetown Trails in Calumet have a variety of ski trails, along with a great sledding hill, but did you know that they also have snowshoeing trails? They most certainly do and Eric Byykkonen was out on them recently, enjoying the quiet of the snow covered woods.
You can see by the second photo that the trail is plainly marked with snowshoe signs, so you know where to go and if you're still on the trail, too. Eric spotted some color along the way, with a clump of mountain ash berries and then one single, HUGE berry. I'm not certain if that is a mountain ash berry or something else, so feel free to chime in if you have an idea of what it may be.
In the meantime, if you click on the following link, you'll be able to see a map of the ski, snowshoe and multi-use trails available for your winter excursion: Swedetown trail map
Don't forget that "...use of groomed ski trails requires season or daily membership in the Swedetown Trails Club. Membership fees are used for cost of fuel and operators for daily grooming, for lighting, for signs and maps and for trail improvements." Get out and enjoy some winter fun!

i certainly enjoyed the photos today. I may have to head up to the Swedetown Trails instead of making my own way through the woods.

That is one big berry! I've never been on the Swedetown Trails. Maybe some day.
