When Judy Byykkonen made a trip to Houghton recently, she stopped along the lakeshore and snapped a few shots of a snowy, white Ripley across the Portage Canal. When it gets to be this time of year, the color palette that makes up the scenery here in the Keweenaw, gets down to just a few basic colors... namely, white and brown for the most part.
Judy's photos are a good example of that color scheme, along with the occasional pine green, bridge and water blue and tan brick color from the buildings in these shots. Even with the limited hues of the winter season, the beauty of the Keweenaw shines right through.

Looks very appealing with the white hillsides and some blue skies! Thanks!

As nice as those scenes are, they are even nicer when the slips are full of boats.
