When Lake Superior gets rocking and rolling, it's an entertaining show, as you can see from Joy Ziemnick's photos here today. She wanted to do some wave watching recently, so she headed over to McLain State Park and was rewarded handsomely for doing so. Not only was she able to enjoy some amazing splashes from incoming waves, but the bonus was about 8 young guys surfing those Lake Superior waters.
The sun was shining here, but don't let that fool you, the air and the water were COLD. That didn't stop these guys, though. Joy said it was so much fun watching them jump in over and over, with excitement each and every time. They are much braver than me, I'd have been on the shore with Joy, just enjoying their antics

Nice captures of the waves breaking and splashing. As to the surfers......To each his own is all I can say.

One of these guys isn't wearing his hood which means he's overheating and trying to cool off. Surfing the Big Lake is one scenario where a chook, choppers, carhartts and swampers won't keep you warm.
