Today's photos come to us from Melanie Hakala Rossi. I figured her first shot with the pumpkins saying hello to us all, was perfect for the day before Halloween! Her remaining pictures are from a hike she and a friend took recently.
Even with most, if not all the leaves on the ground around here in the Copper Country, it's still a great time to get out in the woods for a hike. Huge on the list of reasons why, is what I stated on the Pasty Cam page…no bugs! Melanie found that out on the hike she took in the Holy Transfiguration Monastic Park, often referred to as the Monk's trail near Eagle River. Sure looks like their travels along the trail were cushioned by plenty of leaves on the ground. I can almost hear the rustle and crunch of the leaves underneath their feet.
They were treated to some of the ruins of the Arnold Mine in the area and a few more recently added attractions, such as that giant picnic table and the interesting barrel-like bench to sit and reflect. Quite an interesting place to quiet the mind and enjoy the peacefulness of nature along the trails.

Last time we were in the Keweenaw, we explored an entire day around that area and found it quite beautiful. We hiked a couple times between the Jampot and Arnold Mine, including up Jacobs Creek which was no small task, but a lot of fun.

What an appropriate use for pumpkins especially this time of year! Now I know what to do with the over-abundance that my wife gets in our vegetable garden most years :°)

Interesting pictures. I think old mining sites are intriguing. Mother Nature's winter blanket of leaves is almost complete.
