Clyde Elmblad provided the top Shoebox Memory today, somewhere along US-41 between Michigamme and L'Anse. The second picture is a more recent one (2008) from Michael Poe. It appears to be taken from the car moving in the other direction (East). The last old photo is from the collection of the late Kevin Musser, of the old Nestoria Station.
My wife and I have seen this stretch of highway quite a few times this summer, living at the Beacon House in Marquette during the week, and generally back home in Eagle River on Weekends. We have often thought that bend of the Spurr River would make a great postcard. This spot is almost exactly in the middle between Houghton and Marquette.
Wish I had more time to relate all the adventures we've been having this summer. Maybe when the trips are behind use we'll have some time to catch up.
Have a good week :o)

Charlie, With all your travels and Edie's treatments, you have been in our prayers frequently the last few months!
Hope you and Edie are keeping a journal, Charlie.

Echoing Jbuck and Shirley.... Charlie-kind thoughts, prayers for you and Edie. Wish I could be your weekend driver so the two of you could relax together and enjoy the sights!
Hey... my next endeavor... UC's limo service! :=)
