When Judy Byykkonen goes out for a hike in the woods, she has plenty of company...all three of her four-legged friends enjoy the time outdoors, too. On the day Judy took these photos, the colors were quickly dwindling, with plenty of leaves on the ground. But the beauty in the woods surrounding her and her pups was still quite evident with brilliant red splotches here and there, rust hues and plenty of bright yellow still hanging on.

Speaking of hanging on, that's what the rust colored oak leaves do. They have such a firm grip on the branches, that some oak leaves stay on the tree for most of the winter or at least until the winter storms come along and blow them to the ground.

Judy's companions on the bush walk very rarely end up together for a picture, so her last shot is somewhat special with all three of them captured at once. That's Mandy, Scottie and Giselle. Happy, go-lucky, fun in the Keweenaw forest.

The Scottie brings a smile and loving memories our 4 Scottie boys left us! Speaking of smiles, we pick up our new Aussie pup, Kipp, Saturday morning!

Just after our fall color peek, we get the golden glow of our Tamarack trees (Larix laricina...American Larch)....besides Oak, also our Beech trees (Fagus grandiflora) still holding on to their leaves, bright yellow shades to golden brown hues!

Funny a maple leaf should appear on Pasty; I've been in British Columbia all week splitting time between Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies near Golden and Banff.....

The maple and oak are my favorite leaves. Dog picture is sweet.
