When Melanie Hakala Rossi gets out to capture fall here in the Keweenaw, she always finds some interesting subjects, like Ruffed Grouse that seem to stop and pose for the camera. Right or wrong, here UP North we often refer to these birds as Partridge, but no matter what you call them, the somewhat camouflage coloring of their feathers helps them to blend into their surroundings quite well. So well, in fact that often times you don't realize they're there, until the beat of their wings taking off startles you!

Melanie's fourth photo is quite unique, with the old cars and the fall colors making you think that you've step back in history. What a grand way to take a color tour of the Copper Country, just leisurely driving down the highways and byways, enjoying the scenery around you.

The last two shots are more of the beautiful fall colors we've enjoyed this season. It has truly been one of the most amazing displays that I can remember in a long time. Some of the yellows are still hanging on, but with the wind and rain we experienced over the weekend, much of the leaves are now covering the ground. Fortunately, here on the Pasty Cam, we can keep fall going for a time yet. ;-)

I have been so enjoying all of the fall pics,including
those of today.I love the ruffled grouse and the old
cars are fantastic. The last two pics are especially
lovely and peaceful.

Great shots, every one of them. It's no wonder I like fall so much.

Nice pix...the last 2 reminds of Sand Lake in the UP, sitting on the dock in the evening and watching an occasional fish break the glass-like surface of the water while listening to the loons.
