Paul Roberts takes us to Mackinac Island with him, for a quick look at the color over there and then snaps a few shots of the Mackinac Bridge that we don't often see…the underside.
Paul's first shot was taken from one of the upper roads on the Island, so you get a good view of the trees below in full color. Then his second photo was taken on the State Highway that circles the entire Island, M-185. In case you're wondering this highway is just over 8 miles completely around the outside of Mackinac Island.
The next few pictures are not your typical views of the Bridge, but more of the structure and what holds it up over the Straits of Mackinac. Those are some pretty big supports to hold the weight of the Big Mac and all the vehicles that cross it daily.
Paul's cloud cover photo is interesting in that it looks like those clouds are touching the water and if you were out there in that boat in the photo, perhaps you'd sail right through them. I wonder if you could reach out and touch one then?
For the sunset photo, Paul said it was only 54 degrees, but he wanted the shot, so he rolled up his pant legs and waded out into the cold water. People around him, thought he was nuts, but he didn't care, since he knew what a neat photo this would turn out to be.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures in Mackinac, Paul!

Great photos, Paul, thank you! Good for you for wading into the chilly water to get that sunset shot. Swimming season can be a lot longer than most people think, and it's good for the soul to be in the water!

Fall is busting out all over. I took a bicycle ride around the island a couple summers ago and told myself then I was going to return in the fall and do it. Seeing these pictures has strengthened my resolve to do so next fall.

WOW, WOW, WOW!! I took a spin today, and even in the fog and rain...and it's almost the end of the leaves, it is still so beautiful!

I, too, never tire of the Mackinaw Straits area - especially the views of the Mighty Mac and touring Mackinac Island. When our kids were growing up we would go up at least once a year, and now that they're raising their kids they take them up there often. Oh, such good memories....
Thanks for posting these wonderful photos.

That is such an awesome picture of the dark clouds over the water. It's almost like reminding us of what is to come in the next few months.
