When you're heading to Copper Harbor on a color tour, a must stop is Haven Falls in Lac La Belle. Mary Schmitt made that drive recently and shares a few of the colorful pictures she snapped along the way.
The falls themselves are so engulfed in color that you almost don't see the waterfall. Well, you do see it, but it's really not the focal point that it normally is at this stop in your Keweenaw tour. The rich colors in the trees, accentuated by the leaves that have already covered the ground are outstanding.
Of course the drive UP there is a treat in itself, as much of the way is covered over tree branches, which means that you are completely surrounded by the color as you motor along. This time of year especially, is when people on their way to and from Copper Harbor should slow down and enjoy the scenery, as it doesn't get much better than this.
The next stop on Mary's route north, was at Fort Wilkins, where the color of the stones making up the bridge crossing Fanny Hooe Creek added to the hues of the changing leaves alongside the river. Quite picturesque! Even the leaves that have gotten caught up in the lower spots on the river are worthy of a snap of the camera shutter.
Last but not least, is a trip to the top of Brockway Mountain, where Mary snapped a picture of her daughter snapping a picture of the color from UP there. Even though this isn't the same as standing there to view the beauty of the Keweenaw during fall, it's the next best thing to being there and we appreciate folks like Mary sharing their adventures with us.

Hi The firsr photo is my favorite.
The second photo is similar to one I have on an older calendar (scenic calendars from previous years are what I have instead of a window at work).

Thanks for sharing Copper County's beautiful fall colors. I'd much rather see them in person, but that isn't possible right now, so pictures are the next best thing. I sure miss that area up there!

I always have a Pasty.com photo as my background, and I find myself changing it quite often in the fall, but it is quite impossible to choose just one from today's collection!

Wowzaa! Wish I could be in two places at once. It's gorgeous here in the Outer Banks of North Carolina too. Luckily, with Pasty Cam that's almost possible. Thank You.
