When George Hoyem was visiting the Keweenaw recently, he spent some time touring around, looking at the changing leaves, capturing them in their brilliant colors in that moment in time forever. I'm thankful for the folks like George that take the time to do this and then share the beauty with us all, because photos such as these today make the outstanding colors of fall last longer than they actually do.

The last photo reminds us that here UP North, the white colored season isn't far behind. So photos of the varying colors surrounding us now, will get us through the cold winter, along with that piled up wood pictured there that will heat someone's house in the coming days. A well piled wood supply like this one, has a beauty all its own, especially to whoever cut, split and piled it for their winter heat.

This seems to be the only time of year we even notice "Virginia Creeper" (red vine). Always a nice surprise adding to our color season!

The beauty of the leaves of Autumn is tempered by the knowledge that the snows of Winter are hard on it's heels. Nonetheless, these are great pictures.
