Joy Ziemnick and "family" went to check out the Lake Superior shoreline and waves a few days ago at McLain State Park. She remarked on the amazing amount of logs, driftwood and such on the narrowed beach from the recent windy storms. All that washed ashore has made a mess of sorts, but it's also provided some good seating as you can see in Joy's second photo where her husband, Jim and the dogs are taking a break to watch the waves roll in.
The wave show was still quite impressive the day they were there, as you can see the waves gliding along the breakwall, right level with the top of it. Joy said there were a number of seagulls around that just parked themselves on the wall, taking in the spray and fury around them, too. At least they had some sunshine to accompany the swirling wind.
The last picture is a compilation of photos sent in by Jan Dahlquist, as a follow-up to this past Tuesday's pictures of the storm damage at McLain State Park. Jan said that these photos were taken just about a year ago, in 2013, showing the same shoreline at the park, alongside the campground road. You can click on the words, "Tuesday's pictures" here above to compare the 2014 shoreline to the 2013 shoreline and see just how much of it was lost in the BIG storm a few weeks back. It is definitely an ever-changing shoreline, thanks to the power of Lady Superior.

The power of the Lake is certainly apparent! Now that the lake levels are above average for this time of year the shoreline will be washed away with each big storm. Wonder how Crisp Point lighthouse is doing!

Great pictures! That 3rd picture sure shows the lake's power! What a sight to see!
