Chad Johnson found himself atop Mt. Ripley ski hill over the weekend where he snapped a couple of views that show us quite a bit of the area, both off in the distance and across the Portage Canal.
In the first photo, Chad focused on part of the campus of Michigan Tech where you can see the Great Lakes Research Center and the Central Heating Plant on the waterfront, along with a number of the academic buildings on the campus level. Then you can follow the Keweenaw Waterway out to Portage Lake.
Looking at Chad's second photo, he has turned to capture part of downtown Houghton, and along the waterfront... the Ranger III, Dee Stadium and Michigan Tech Lakeshore Center, which houses a variety of offices for the university. Then right at the bottom of the photo, you see the Quincy Smelter buildings, which were just recently acquired by the National Park Service.
There is so much more in both of these photos, that I couldn't even begin to name it all. Great job encompassing so much of the surrounding area in two simple photos, Chad!
