Laurie Bashaw met up with her daughter and grandkids for a fun day at the DeYoung Family Zoo in Wallace, MI recently and you can tell by the smiles, that her grandkids thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the animals. They were even able to get to know a few face to face in the petting zoo portion.
You can see by the photos that Laurie shared here with us, that there is quite the variety of animals living right here in the U.P.. I think their webpage describes it best:
"The DeYoung Family Zoo is nestled in the wilderness of the beautiful Upper Peninsula. This is NOT a big city zoo, step out of the box, away from the concrete jungle and come along on a new journey. You will love the natural setting filled with amazing animals from around the world. Large natural habitats, education through hands-on experiences, as well as up close and personal family fun! It’s all waiting for you at the DeYoung Family Zoo!"
It sure looks like a great place to spend some family time and introduce your kiddos to a variety of wildlife they otherwise may not get to see in person. Their Fall hours are: Wednesday through Sunday - 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST, so there's still plenty of time to make a trip with the family to enjoy the animals!
