Here in the Keweenaw, most schools have gotten underway this week, so there were many first day of school photos snapped and shared on social media webpages. Jeff Dennis has some different "first day" photos for us here today, they're actually "after the first day of school" photos.

Jeff told me that they try to do something special as a family every year after the first day of school. Their something special this year was a canoeing excursion out at Little Traverse Bay, on Lake Superior and even Lacey their four-legged family member got to go, complete with her own lifejacket, too. They spotted an eagle high up in a tree as Mom and Dad paddled along. Jeff said that his son, Walter took the bottom photo, with Lacey concentrating on some birds in the water.

What a wonderful family tradition to keep going and I'm betting that in the years to come, when the kids are grown up with families of their own, they'll keep that tradition going!
