Melody Provost Holmes was out and about with the critters recently and happened to capture some great shots of what looks like a little family of raccoons. These masked bandits can be quite destructive, I'll admit, but in pictures especially, you have to agree, they're kind of cute, too.
All of Melody's photos were taken in the Norway area, within a mile of where she lives, so she is treated with a variety of animals on a daily basis. The third shot of the buck and doe in the field keeps bringing me back time and again. I love the way the buck is standing there, looking so regal, perhaps watching out for the doe as she makes her way back to the woods. Then in the fourth photo, a doe makes a visit to Melody's yard on a beautiful, sunshiny day.
Today's last photo, comes to us from William Linn, who thought this would make a good Pasty Cam addition and I totally agree. How unique to have captured a fawn nosing up to a turkey and her poults. William said he spotted this unlikely group of critters on Larson Road, just east of Bruce Crossing, recently. Neat enough to snag a picture of the hen and her little flock, but then with a fawn in the picture, too, outstanding!

These are all great photos but I'm really impressed by the last one. What a unique event! Thanks, Melody and William.

Lots of neat critter pictures today. Raccoons are cute but they eat the plums off of my plum tree before they have a chance to get ripe. I'll have to deter them some kind of way next year.

what a great set of pictures. I really like the last one, maybe the fawn found a playmate...

Such cute pictures. Last night on my way home from St. Cloud, there was a mama and her baby slowly making their way across the road. Mom was limping badly. Absolutely broke my heart. I hope she'll be okay :-(

We often see deer and turkeys feeding together out in the fields, but have never seen a group with the young 'uns!

I'm glad you posted that, Jbuck, because it jogged my memory back to about 32 years ago when we lived in ND. We often would pass a low valley field where a herd of deer could be found grazing, and one day when we passed, there was also a flock of wild turkeys grazing right along with them.

The racoons are cute to look at but can be very nasty critters with sharp teeth and often carry rabies.

I so enjoyed all the animal pics today. Raccoons are sooo cute-even though they tend to cause a bit of mischief.Deer are beautiful with fawns being downright adorable. Nice to see a wild turkey there also. good selection of U.P. critters!

Raccoons also carry canine and feline distemper so you have to be careful about your pets also in addition to rabies.

Our Impala has had a new hood thanks to a wild turkey, and our Monte Carlo Z-34 has a new fender, hood, driver's door, and front bumper thanks to a deer!
