Beauty can be found all over here UP North and it's not always on a grand scale, like the depth and breadth of Lake Superior. It shows up in the little things that so many of us are either in too much of a hurry to notice or we just take them for granted and barely notice them as we go about our daily routines.

Thankfully, Curtis and Kathy Archambeau slowed down their pace to notice a few of those little wonderments for us all. In the first shot, Curtis captured a bee, while it was taking a nap in the center of a pretty, pink hollyhock. Good thing it was sleeping or Curtis might have been in danger of being stung getting that close to the beauty and the bug.

Then Kathy was out in her yard and spotted something trying to be incognito on the bark of the white birch trees in her yard. It was a type of moth and this guy sure had a good mechanism for playing hide and seek. He blends in so well, that you might not even notice he's there if you aren't paying close attention.
Sidenote about the white birch tree: Kathy said that Curtis planted this tree when they first moved there and it was about ½ inch in diameter at the time. He dug it up in the woods behind their house because Kathy told him that her one requirement when they bought a house in the UP, was to have white birch trees in the yard. It's grown up since then and Kathy has declared it a gorgeous tree!

Today's photos are a good reminder to us all to slow down and take time to notice the little things in life. Thanks, Curtis and Kathy!

Nicely done! I didn't even notice the bee and the moth is almost transparent.
