We continue here today, the adventure we began yesterday with Bob and Liz Gilreath aboard the Herbert C Jackson. To recap, they sailed the Great Lakes for five days, as guests of her brother Bill Giddens and the Interlake Steamship.
Yesterday's photos were more about being on board, showing their stateroom, lounge and where they had lunch. Today's shots cover some of the sights they saw from the deck of the Jackson both water views and several of the lighthouses they passed on Lake Superior on their way from Marquette, to the Soo Locks and then on to Detroit.
The last photo here today was actually snapped while on Lake Huron. Bob said this is a Salty and the U.S. Brig Niagara as they pass each other. The Niagara is the reconstructed relief flagship of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry that sailed during the War of 1812. It has been reconstructed several times and lists Erie, Pennsylvania, on the shores of Lake Erie, as its home port. Neat to capture the Salty and this old time sailing boat together like that.
What a grand adventure this has been for Liz and Bob and in turn, for us through their sharing the photos the last two days with us all. I think Bob said it best right here: "It was a trip of a lifetime!"

WOW!! These pictures are terrific!! I would be sooooooo sick riding on one of these things. Awesome shots, though. What fun if I wouldn't get sick. But, I know I'd be terrified if the waves got too big.
