I'll admit here, right off the bat, I'm a bit envious of today's adventure from Bob Gilreath. He and his wife, Liz, spent an incredible 5 days as guests of her brother, Bill Giddens and the Interlake Steamship Herbert C Jackson, cruising their route from Marquette to Detroit and back again on the Great Lakes. Bob said, "From the stateroom, to the antique deck chairs, to the food and great weather, the trip was fantastic."
Looking at the pictures here today, I'd have to agree. Bob told me that he took over 1800 photos along the way, so you can understand why I had a hard time paring down the group of them for today. I decided to feature more of the "inside" shots, their stateroom, the lounge, the lunchroom and in between for today. And since there were so many other great scenery shots he captured from the deck of the Jackson, I decided another day of the adventure was in order, so stay tuned for tomorrow's continuation of 'Bob and Liz sailing the Great Lakes'.

Good morning pastycammers!!!! It's a cloudy, humid, hot day here in MN. Chance of rain later on. Of course, I only have to work a 1/2 day today so that's usually how it goes :-(
Wow! I am so jealous! What a great experience! I look forward to seeing more photos...

You do realise that when Danielle Adams sees these Bob, you're going to make her cry?? ;-)
My brother-in-law, the late Raymond DuTemple, was the Chief Steward on the Jackson. My brother Mike and I got to tour the ship and eat dinner on it when the ship was ice bound on the Detroit River. The food was great and abundant! I miss Ray.

What an interesting view of a freighter, and what a great experience. I can only imagine how much fun that was! Thanks for sharing your pictures, Bob.

The stateroom must be for guests, the crews quarters look nothing like that. My very first deck hands job was on the Jackson in 1986. It was a good job on a good boat with a good crew.
