Tucked away over in Brimley, you'll find the Wheels of History Museum. Larry Gibson was there recently and shares these photos and information about them…
"Wheels of History Museum in Brimley Michigan has a collection of the historic past around Bay Mills and Brimley with the focus on the railroad, phone company, and lumbering in the area.
The Museum is open Wed through Sundays from May to mid October. Recently the Historic Society raised funds and built a 3/4 scale depot from original plans. It is across from the rail cars. Museum displays are in both the cars and depot. The Depot sets beside old DSS&A (Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic) railroad grade in Brimley.
The Old granary building still sets on the former RR grade. Hay was sent all over the US from here by rail at one time. In the last photo is a wooden water tank, which supplied water to a RR Hotel nearby, that no longer stands.
DSS&A RR was removed through here after the rail road merged with the Soo Line in 1960. Many historic photos, memorabilia and information can be found inside the museum."
Sounds like another U.P. location to add to my "places to visit" list.
