Brenda Leigh recently had the neat opportunity to get close up to an orphaned fox kit for some great photos. She said it was hiding out under a shed at her neighbor's and even though others were a bit afraid for her, since it is a wild animal, she still got right in there to get some photos. The little guy must have known she meant him no harm, because she said he walked right up to her as she was snapping pictures.

Brenda said he was chewing on a watermelon rind that a crow had dropped and she hoped he has the necessary skills to hunt down food, so he can survive. She wanted to feed it to get it on its feet, but her neighbors really didn't like that idea. Brenda did say he was sniffing around like he was looking for food, so hopefully his Momma taught him what he needs to know to be out in the big wide world on his own, there in Brimley.

Something tells me this little Fox will make it. Nature has wondrous ways!

He/She is a cute little guy/girl. It seems to have more than the normal amount of black coloration. Some time back I saw a few all black foxes on Isle Royale but they eventually died out.

maybe someone else has been feeding the fox and it use to humans....to a point, it got use to humans.

I would make my dog Rocco share his beef jerky, what can I say...I'm a softy.

My parents have a place in the Keweenaw and we had a
gorgeous black fox coming around one summer. Jet
black except a light gray at the tip of his tail.
Only saw it that summer then never again.
Probably 20 years ago now.

They are just so cute. We saw a dead one on the
side of the road yesterday. I always hate seeing
that.
