When Robert Schwarzkopf and his family head to the Keweenaw for a visit, they have a few favorite stops and he's sharing them here with us today, starting with their four legged family member, Sophie's choice. Robert said she loves to swim in Lake Superior, but on this visit she wasn't quite as enthusiastic as usual. He figures it was because the water temps were in the low 40's. There was even a fog bank coming in over the Lake, which you can see in the second photo.

Their next stop was at the Quincy Mine to check out the train engines there. Then on to Lac La Belle to see how Haven Falls is looking this time of year. Lastly, they stopped to check out Mendota Lighthouse across the channel that enters Lac La Belle from the Lake Superior waters of Bete Grise Bay.

Thanks for taking us along to visit a few of your favorite things here in the Keweenaw, Robert!

Great pictures! Thanks!

Haven Falls is still running strong. It was barely a
trickle the last time I was there in a past August.

That is quite a responsibility taken on to keep the
Mendota Lighthouse going. I gather it must now be a
Coast Guard sanctioned, private aid to navigation.

Always fun to watch Labs play in the water!

Another beautiful waterfall picture. I chanced upon a book one time that claimed there are 199 named waterfalls in the state of Michigan and 198 of them are in the UP.
