Memorial Day, or as it used to be; Independence Day, is almost here. It should be nice weather, no bugs bugging yet, thanks to the north wind.

Not going to be a good weekend to go swimming for some of us, I'm sure the tough Yoopers will disagree.

Shirley: Southwest Ohio had many closed roads due to flooding this morning as a result of 5 to 6 inches of rain that fell in 2 to 3 hours yesterday evening during severe weather. Funnel clouds were sighted east of Springfield, none touched the ground. I stayed at a friend's home west of Springfield last night due to flooded roads that prevented me from going to my home 15 miles away. I'll be able to go home today.

Nick, we had some pretty severe weather (thunder-boomers) in Bethel overnight but I don't think we had that much rain. Hope you made it home okay.

I believe Memorial Day was called Decoration Day.
July fourth has been known as Independence Day.
