This is what happens in the Spring here in the Keweenaw, when you get over 300 inches of snow and the weather then turns to heavy rain and thunderstorms...flooding! Gail Ongie and her Mom, Beegu Keranen were out in the early morning fog this past Friday, checking out what the Traprock River was up to and this is what they found. It has flooded it's banks and decided that it didn’t want to go under the bridge, but right over Angman Road, just outside of Lake Linden, in Traprock Valley. That's a lot of water over that road, not to mention what is sitting in the woods off to the side of the road, too. It's going to take awhile for that forest floor to dry up.
The last two photos are still on Angman Road, just around the bend from where the first three photos were snapped. That's another of the bridges that the Traprock usually flows under. You can see the water right up to the underside of the bridge and pushing against it in the last photo. These country road bridges need to be made quite sturdy to withstand the force of nature when the Traprock is running high

Rivers are starting to run high here in Colorado also. And yesterday's & today's rain and SNOW (yes, SNOW) are just going to add to it.

The U.P. waterfalls must be awesome with all the melting!

A lot of little critters that live on and beneath the forest floor are looking for a new home.

Great pics of the Traprock River! It amazes me at how our softly flowing river can become this rushing torrent in the spring.Nice to see Beegu out and about and without a sling!
