Over in the Brimley area, near the Soo, Brenda Leigh has been out taking walks and keeping an eye peeled for good photo opportunities. While walking on Lake Superior's shoreline recently, she spied two Bald Eagles soaring high in the air, seeming like they were doing a dance in flight. When she spotted them land in a tree, she knew she had to get a shot of them together like that and what a photo that turned out to be. We can't tell for sure, but these two majestic birds almost look to be kissing, so they could possibly be a mating pair. If so, from what I've read, it is thought that eagles mate for life, but if one dies, they will find another mate after that. What an amazing capture, to have been able to photograph this pair together in flight and then smooching in the tree.

The second two photos were snapped near Torch Lake, in Lake Linden. I was looking out the window a couple days ago and saw something rather large moving around across the way, so I pulled out my camera and put on my telephoto lens, only to find it was a Great Blue Heron. Normally these birds are seen mostly along the waters edge looking for something to eat, but that day, she was strutting around on her long legs, in the grassy area near the water's edge, then she made her way back down to the water where the melting has opened up a spot for her to do some fishing for her dinner.

Pretty neat to have photos of what I consider to be two of the most fascinating and regal birds that share their living quarters with all of us UP North here. It's nice to have them back around again.

Great pictures! Blue Herons and White Herons have been down in the swampy part of our bottom ground. Have also had Turkey Buzzards hunting down field mice.
