This time of year, the snow seems to drag people down, because folks are ready for spring to arrive. It isn't just us humans that get burdened by the snow, though, as Barb Bouwkamp shows us with a little tree she's been watching from her bedroom window in Laurium, for a years now. When she looked out and saw it all bent over, she was feeling badly and decided to write an "ode" to her little tree.
Winter has broken me.
My back is broken.
Winter has taken my life, my heart.
Winter has been too cold, too long, too hard.
I've had it. I can't cope.
The sun has come too late to melt that which has harmed me.
I gave my life for Winter.
I never got to be a Christmas Tree.
Poor little tree…I hope the sun we've had, along with the warmer temperatures will melt that snow and it will once again stretch its branches and reach for the sky. Maybe Barb will give us a report once the snow has melted and the grass has greened.
Barb's icicle photos give some hope for the tree, since icicles form when snow begins to melt. Looks like that's what is happening around the eaves of her home. The bottom photo was the scene looking out Barb's window after the dumping of snow we had last weekend. Let's hope the melting continues now and that the snow storms will subside until the end of 2014.
