99 cents per gallon in 2007, or should the year be 1907? :-)

Good Morning everyone. That gas price of $0.99/gallon of gas is real eye opener. I don't ever really remember that, although I should. Our gas price here in Midland today is around $3.71 per gallon. The prices are expected to keep rising at least until Memorial Day. They are saying the higher prices are because the oil refiners are doing their spring maintenance, during their switch over from producing fuel oil to gasoline for summer, coupled with the uncertainties in the Middle East and the Far East. The law of supply and demand gets us: when there is less supply, the prices go up, just like we saw it do for heating fuels this winter. There are remedies for this, but so far the feds have chosen not to pursue them.
I also love the lighthouse photos today and the Jeep attempting to drive through the narrow cutaway, that I am guessing is really the sidewalk? How do you cut the snow bank like that, perfectly straight vertically? Have a good day you all!

Marianne, that straight bank was probably the work of a snow-go. Check out March 8, 2012 discussion

I can remember when it was $.30 per gal. On a trip to Delaware in 1974 we were so shocked to see the price of $.60, we made a photo of the pump ~ thinking "there's no way it will stay this high". Little did we know.:<

I remember gas prices as low as .15 per gallon in 1965. But that was during gas wars when the gas stations were battling to get each other's customers. Now the price is $3.85 per gallon here in Kent City, MI. The good old days...sigh.

Thank you, Jbuck - I was wondering about that, but then it looked like a sidewalk, and I didn't know the Snow Go's did sidewalks.
I remember when gasoline was 0.25/gallon, when I was in elementary and junior high school, and they had collectible water glasses, too, free with a minimum purchase. (That was in Houston, TX, and their prices tend to be lower than ours are up here, probably because they are so close to the oil refineries.)

So if gas prices are approx. 10 times more than they were in the 70's why is it that my wages are only 4 times more?
By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 - 02:04 pm:
Dave, I think all of us know the answer to that....unfortunately.
Used to fill up a 1972 Buick Electra Limited for $6.00, now for my little '08 Mercury Mariner SUV it takes between $30. and $40.!! Go figure.
