Brenda Leigh sent in today's photos as an interesting comparison of winter in her Brimley yard over the last three years. All three photos were taken on the same day and it shows the difference a year or two makes in the snow cover on the ground.

The first photo is this year, 2014. Doesn't really look like much, right? Just a bunch of snow with something peeking out of a shoveled corner, which happens to be the firepit in Brenda's yard.

Moving on to the second shot snapped on the same day in 2013 and you see a nifty snowman and the wooden tree stumps that they use as seats around the campfire during the spring, summer and fall. They weren't visible at all in this year's photo.

And then finally the third picture, taken again, on the same day, but in 2012, in which the only snow you see is a couple patches that haven't quite melted away. Not only is the snow just about completely gone, but check out the attire on the guests around the firepit…looks like it is much warmer than we've had here UP North this March, too.

Isn't it amazing the difference a couple of years can make here in the Upper Peninsula? Thanks for showing us the difference in the last three years, Brenda!

Great idea ~ taking the pictures on the same day every year!

Interesting perspective...Is that a door at the top of the 2014 photo?

Neat photos, Brenda, and a unique idea!:)

I like the looks of 2012. Spring looks so far away in 2013 & 2014.

By Tom (Tom) on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - 09:47 am:

Janie T, the Bobbysgirl after the song, I wanna be Bobbys girl? I'll bet that is the case.

Tom you are so right! lol! Yes all my family & friends sang that song to me. It's rather fitting! :)

Variety is the spice of life, someone once proclaimed. The 2012 version of spring looks much more pleasant.
I took a trip to Hawaii in Feb of 2012 and every time I called back to the UP I was told the snow is melting fast and it is 50 some odd degrees. C'est la vie say the old folks.

We don't have it as bad as you UP there, but it is bad compared to the two previous years - simply amazing!

... who would have guessed about this winter's
weather, who would have guessed; wow lol (great
pics!)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - 03:48 pm:

below the bridge, I was wondering about this winter back last July when my horses started growing winter hair.....

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - 03:54 pm:

Shows us how smart horses are!!
We're having snow, again ~ the ground's white and trees are plastered already!:(

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - 03:59 pm:

Usually my horses are starting to shed pretty good by now, but they are hanging onto it. I might have to body clip the two horses Michelle and I are showing against each other this year.

I vote for the third pic!!! Only in the YOOP!

By dane l. christensen (Danech55) on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - 05:53 pm:

2012 was a disaster in its own way......no apples, cherries or any tree fruit in the entire state of Michigan that year. This year is miserable at the opposite end of the spectrum. How about something in the middle.....jeez.

That is just so cool, Brenda :-)

By Brenda Leigh (Brownmoose) on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 - 07:24 am:

Yes, Alex that is a door. It is a heavy one too. I
discovered it on a curb side in town for give away.
It is an ALL WOOD door. That area is where my
raspberry plants are so I thought it would look
good there next to the fence. I painted it and put
some antique hardware on it and VOILA.... Thanks to
all for the comments.
