Friday evening, the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes squared off against the Jeffers Jets for the District Championship final game and the Lakes came out on top with a 57 - 40 win on Jeffers home court. Gail Ongie was on hand to watch her son, #11 and to snap some shots of the action, along with the winning smiles afterwards. She really captured the excitement of the game from the beginning, with the introduction of the starting lineup, right through to the ending ceremony where the Lakes coach Jack Kumpula (Class D Copper Country Conference Coach of the Year) hands the District D winning trophy to his team. The last photo is Gail, her husband and their son, posing with the hardware after the game.
It was really an exciting game to be at, watching the Lakes play together as a team and hearing the roar of the fans in support of their efforts. The Lakes Nation knows how to cheer, that's for sure. We were there and sitting directly behind those blue and gold clad kids in the stands and boy, were they LOUD, cheering their Lakes on to Victory!
Regional playoffs begin tonight, with the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes facing Crystal Falls in Escanaba, at 6:00 p.m. EST. If you can't be there to root for the Lakes in person, you can listen to the game stream on the Pasty.NET home page, right near the top. Audio will start a few minutes before the game.
GO LAKES!!
