Aladino Mandoli was right out there on the trails with the dogs and mushers for the UP 200 sled dog races in the Marquette area this past weekend. He sure had a great vantage point for photographing the teams as they approached and then whisked on by. These trail shots were taken just before the teams reached Grand Marais.
What a neat capture of the deer on the trail, with a sled team quickly approaching. Dino said that there were about two dozen deer browsing on the trail and when they saw the dogs coming, they started running down the trail…until they spotted HIM! For a split second there, they weren't sure what to do and Dino captured that perfectly.
The last photo was taken as one of the late finishers made their way into Marquette. If you'd like to find out more about the race and the results, click here: UP 200
Thanks for braving the cold temps to bring us right out there in the thick of things, Dino!

Excellent photos, nice detail and good timing! Almost like being there. Dogsleds almost became mandatory transportation this winter.

I like the deers. Now that the dogs wear booties they can enjoy themselves more without icy toes.

Aladino, Your shots are fantastic! I love seeing the dogs and sleds and hope to get there some day to see them firsthand. Please keep them coming.
