We don’t often get to see E. Neil Harri's ride, because he's too busy flying and snapping photos to stop long enough to take a picture of his plane. He's well-known for his photography from the air, so whenever folks see a red and white plane overhead, they wonder if they should wave hello!

Neil takes us on a fly-over of the Huron Islands and Lighthouse today. Amazing how clear the ice looks for those fishermen down below. Not too many out near the Island like that, just a small cluster of shanties. Sure is nice that this lighthouse sits high atop the island pictured…safe from the crashing waves in all seasons.

The last two photos were snapped of the Stannard Rock Lighthouse. This is an intriguing one, since it sits out there in Lake Superior with no land in sight for 25 miles. Neil said that the walkway on top this light is 103 feet high and he has photos from previous years that the ice has reached up to the top of the light like that.

Thanks for taking us flying today, Neil…it's always a pleasure to take a tour with you.

I was just figuring out how long I have been ice flying.
It was 25 years this month since I first landed in Baraga.
Time flies.

Amazing Pics! I just love the aerial photos but
these are especially interesting.

I like the second and third pictures with the wind swept ice. Those lines in the ice sure look like cracks to me in picture three.

Amazing photo's, thanks for taking us along Neil! Do you ever get nervous flying over Superior that far away from shore? I had to ask, I think I would be, I'm not sure I could trust a small plane, chicken I guess.... landing on ice, that too would freak me out! lol

Great shots, Neil, as always. Boy, wouldn't like to have been the keeper on Stannard Rock in this weather! Or any weather, as a matter of fact!
