The night sky here UP North in the winter, isn't always the black of night, it is often lit up with stars like the photos here today show us.
The first picture was snapped by Frederick W. Koski, with a night glow and star trails in the sky. The setting is great, with star trails shining and the white snow of winter brightening the ground even in the dark. You can't get a much prettier winter nighttime photo, if you ask me.
Mike Schneider outdid himself with the second shot here today. He called it "Ice Crystal Fireworks", which is exactly what it looks like. The stars studding the night sky and the frosty trails with what looks like little explosions at the end is outstanding.
While most of us are huddled in our homes at night, trying to stay warm in the frigid temperatures we've been experiencing, today's two photographers were out there braving the cold air to bring us the beauty of the U.P. winter nights. Thanks, Frederick and Mike!

What beautiful photos. Each season has its own beauty but I think winter makes for the very best photos.
