While the snow keeps falling and the ice keeps forming on Lake Superior, we sit and wonder if winter will ever come to an end this year. Then amongst those wintry thoughts, we picture the beauty that the winter brings and it somehow makes all this weather a bit more bearable.
Thanks to Stacey Flood, we get to gaze upon that winter beauty here today, with her shots of ice out as far as the eye can see on Lake Superior. It sure is a vast expanse and just imagine, it is getting closer and closer to being completely covered in ice.
Stacey's bottom photo is what the streets are looking like around town…snow banks that just won't quit, with mounds of it stuck up in the trees. I recall back a number of years ago, when our license plates for vehicles sported the title, "Winter Wonderland". These pictures here today show why!

This was exactly how it looked here today in Eagle River. Bright sunshine, beautiful blue skies. These are all great shots.
There have been a number of scattered power outages lately, sometime because of the massive buildup of snow in trees that eventually comes down on lines and even brings down poles. Several of our Pasty Cam updates have been pushed later in the day by these weather related complications. Sorry we didn't have these on right when the sun came up. Thanks to all the photo contributors who keep the Pasty Cam humming along.

Bright, blue photos...very nice! This has been one heck of a winter, but like I always say...adapt and survive.

We should be seeing more blue skies in the Keweenaw now that the Western two-thirds of Lake Superior is ice covered.

These are beautiful winter pictures, especially the last one. Thank you, Stacey and Mary. (It would be really cool to see a glimmer of what is to come in a couple of months though, like a picture of crocuses, daffodils, or other flowers starting to bloom. :-) )
