When the snow gets deep in the Keweenaw, the Yoopers get creative about moving it around. Today's first photo from Anthony Abe highlights one of those creative ways. With the snow waist deep on the roof in this picture, these guys figured out a way to lift the snow blower up onto the roof, so the job of clearing all that snow off would go a bit smoother. Where there's a will, there's a way, right?
The second photo here today, was snapped by Eric Byykkonen. It is what he saw one afternoon recently, when he drove down 5th street in Calumet. One of the local businesses had just finished shoveling the snow of the roof of their building, creating several mountains on the sidewalk. Now that's a HUGE pile of snow! My question though, is how did they remove all that snow from the sidewalk then?

Good question, Mary, I was wondering the same thing. That's what I'd call 'snowbound'.

I saw those piles on 5th St. in Calumet on the webcam and wondered "what now?". Then the cam froze and when it came back, the piles were gone....

I love using the wrecking to raise the snowblower to the rooftop! I wonder how one would raise one to the top of a two story house, then?
