On Monday, we went skiing and today we're going snowshoeing. Susan Hooker was out and about on her snowshoes, around the Quincy Mine Shaft and thereabouts.
I like the angle of her shot of the Shaft House and building. It looks like it's taken from behind, at a spot that you normally don't see this scene from.
The remaining photos from Susan are taken along the trail she made, through and around the snow laden trees. She was accompanied by sunshine the whole time she was out breaking trail, so it really made for some spectacular snow-shine photos.
Thanks for the behind the shaft scenes, Susan!

I hope one of these pictures makes January in the 2015 calendar so everyone can see how beautiful your winters are!

Red berries against the snow make for such a pretty picture!

I agree, Janie, the 'winter bird food' is a beautiful shot. Thank you, Susan, for sharing your trek.

Wonderful pictures. I like them all. The 1st one is my favorite. Evidence of our mining heritage is becomming scarce. Winter scenes at Quincy are awesome. I wish I were there.

Hi That the "winter bird food" is in fact still on the bushes makes me think of what a naturalist once said. I asked hin if the berries I saw were edible for wildlife; he said there's a difference between "edible" and "palatable".
