Today's wintry scenes were snapped by Barb Bouwkamp. Her first photo reminds me of a Christmas scene, with the pinecones, snow and needles, since they adorn so many wreaths this time of year. I thought this would be a most appropriate photo to end this week before Christmas with.
Barb's next photo was taken out in the Rice Lake area, of a partially iced in slough. This, too, reminded me of the coming holiday, as it could very well be the setting for a beautiful Christmas card. So, as you're viewing it, consider it your Merry Christmas card from Pasty Central.
The curling snow, sliding off someone's roof in the last shot, is a common scene here in the Keweenaw when the sun shines on a winter day, especially if there is a metal roof on the building. The warm sun heats the metal and the accumulated snow begins to slowly slide off, often curling like this before it finally breaks off. This picture reminded me of decorations this time of year, as nature decorates this home for the holidays.
Winter here UP North provides us with so many interesting and unique scenes and we're thankful that we have so many folks willing to share the view from behind their cameras!
FOOTNOTE: Yesterday's shots from Esrey Park, snapped by Joe Kirkish were quite refreshing. If you missed them, just click here: Friday, December 19th, to take a look at them!

Great Photos. Pinecones are one of my favorites of Nature's creations. They give me a feeling of calm, comfort and serenity.

I'm feeling pretty good. Stiff and soreness in the incision area, but that's to be expected. Glad to be back home.

Nice pix, especially #2! Glad it went well, JT! So, did they give you some coupons or a box of donuts, or something? :-)

I agree Deb, snowy pine trees & cones are beautiful. The first picture could be a Christmas card - just sprinkle some white glitter on the snowy areas, and it'd be awesome. Nice, thank you.
