Good morning Steve

Hi Steve and Bob and everyone. When I see the date, December 7, I always think of it the day that Pearl Harbor was bombed, "a day that will live in infamy", as former President Franklin D. Roosevelt so famously said (although that was long before I was born). I wish the schools of today would spend more time teaching US and World History these days, like they used to, instead of spending so much time on so-called social studies. My sons were taught US history up to the Civil War, if I remember correctly, but they really had no history beyond that. If people do not learn history, then the mistakes of history past will be repeated. I have done my best to teach at least some history to my sons, but it is really something that all students should be taught in school. Ok, it is time to get off my soapbox now, sorry. Have a good day you all, and please do remember what happened 72 years ago today! Have a good day and stay warm.

"GOOD MORNING", Today I recall two things, My step-
daughters birthday and Pearl Harbor. Going to the
resting place on the U.S.S. Arizona. Watching the
tear drops (oil) come up from the ship. Reading all
the names of the men who lost their lives 71 years
ago.

I correct mt self 72 years ago.

Marianne....You are right on target about a lack of history in schools. I believe that the powers that be neglect that on purpose. On the next trip to a library try to find a book written before the 1980s. We are forgetting the past too often. I remember vividly listening to the radio report of that Sunday morning air raid on Pearl Harbor. It was too recent to forget. A lot of people died in that attack and for a lot of years after. It was what brought us into WW2.

Richard, I also remember those broadcasts ~ I was 6 years old but it made a lasting impression on me. I had several cousins and uncles involved in WWII, and was thankful to God when they all came home!
