Today's photos come to us via Nathan Miller, who works for the Keweenaw Land Trust. Nathan informed me that these photos are from the KLT's newest nature area, the Steve Farm Nature Area at Lovell Creek, located just south of Dollar Bay on Point Mills. He set out early one recent morning to explore this new area and set up the lights in the frigid cold. Very festive for the Christmas season.
Nathan also supplied the following information about this new tract of land that is open to the public:
"The Steve Farm Nature Area at Lovell Creek was generously gifted to the Keweenaw Land Trust in the fall of 2013. The 96-acre property was given to us by a local family the John Steve family, with strong ties to the area who wanted to see their land protected from development and be kept available for future Keweenaw explorers. With the KLT's help, they were able to make their wishes a reality. The nature area is open to the public for non-motorized recreation and features beaver dams, sedge meadows, and mixed forests with woodland trails. More info can be found at KeweenawLandTrust.org or by calling (906) 482-0820."
What a wonderfully generous gift that generations to come will be able to enjoy. Thank you Nathan for bringing this to our attention!
