Good morning

Good night and good morning, Steve....kinda quiet in here, eh?;)

Ah, the old Blue Goose, a Convair 580. I used to
fly the Blue Goose, "puddle jumping" from Houghton
to the LP. This was before the days of all the
electronic landing assist equipment.

One stormy winter day we were approaching Iron
Mountain in the clouds. Lower and lower and still
nothing but a total white out. We finally could
faintly see the ground and it looked very close. I
looked up and it appeared that the control tower
was so close you could almost reach out and touch
it. We had over shot the runway by too much.

In very calm voice the pilot announced, "It looks
like we won't be stopping in Iron Mountain today."
The engines revved up an we proceeded not so
calmly to Marquette.

D. A. (Midwested), that was a great story! You made my day....and the day here in Ontonagon is rainy and foggy. It is still beautiful!

Don't feel to bad, I fell down in the CVS parking lot several weeks ago. I stopped for some Tums and came out with aspirin.

D.A., that reminds me of a similar episode during a rainstorm ~ was flying from Bismarck to Cincinnati ~ had to abort landing twice, at Minneapolis and Grand Rapids ~ finally was able to land in Detroit...on fumes!!:<
