Uncle Chuck (otherwise known as Chuck Paulson) was here in the Keweenaw for a quick working trip the end of last week and he sent me today's first photo, saying that he figured Capt. Paul, Dr. Nat, Deb and Ron would probably like to know that the Ambassador is still standing, since it's always a priority for them to go there when they come for a visit. Actually, there are more than a few folks who will probably like this photo, as it will bring back memories of some of the deliciousness that comes from inside. Not to mention there's a glimpse of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge in the photo, too, that's always a plus!

And, just in case you're wondering what the weather conditions are like around the Keweenaw, Sally Beaudette reports that the lake is frozen over out in Bootjack, all the way across. I think it's safe to say it is winter here now, even though the calendar says that doesn't happen for another three weeks or so.

Most of the lakes out here are frozen over, but not at all thick enough to walk on. The one out from our house isn't even frozen over. I'm sure it will be shortly. My hubby has been saying that there was going to be ice fishing by Thanksgiving for a few weeks now. He just may be right!

Actually took that thru the windshield while rolling down the avenue. It's almost lunch time, I too could go for one with a diet coke!

It's actually getting close to lunch time here; too bad Charlie/Mary never quite perfected "smell-o-vision" because just the thought of a pizza or traditional sub made my tummy rumble.......

Seems the Ambassador's pizza (especially the Tostada Pizza) just finished in the top 3 in the entire state in a pizza competition sponsored by the MLive newspaper group. There were hundreds of nominees from through out Michigan. Congratulations!

It must have been early in the morning, before they opened. Otherwise it's hard to find a parking spot there.

I could go for the large, traditional Sub right about now.

Spent a small fortune in there as a student. Pizza, sandwich, nacho's, and beer. Memories, hard to believe its been 20 + years.

We always have to visit The Ambassador when my kids visit the area.Best Tostada Pizza and great subs too!

Charlie better get right on that, just think what "smell-o-vision" would do for pasty sales, eh?

OK, you guys. The Ambassador is now on my bucket list. We always stop at the Suomi coming and going for the panukakku and nisu bread (so like my grandma's!). I'll have to make sure and take the taste test at Ambassador next time we're UP .

D.A., it was actually a Tuesday afternoon about 4PM when I went through on my way to Calumet. Stayed at the AmericInn that night and had a fantastic whitefish dinner at the Hut that night.

I thought that myself UC, by the way the sun is shining on the bridge...like a big pizza pie.

No Mikie; in fact, today is the first day in a week we'll see the sun rise and actually hit 50 degrees.
