We had to make a day trip to Marquette last Wednesday for a meeting I had to attend, so with time to kill, my hubby, Jim Drew headed to the waterfront to check out the action around the Marquette Harbor.

He was able to watch the James R. Barker unloading coal and took a few different angles of the process. If you look closely at the third photo, on top of the coal pile, left side, you can see the bulldozer there pushing the coal as it unloads out of the chute. I thought that was pretty neat, to catch that in action.

Then he photographed #2501 engine from the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad, along with the sign that tells about the Presque Isle Ore dock and its history there in Marquette. I don't recall having seen this before, so I found it quite interesting.

As you can see in these photos, there was no snow there that day, but it didn't take long to appear…the last photo was on our way home that same day. The roads were icy and slippery for about 30 miles or so, before it all turned to rain again closer to home. Of course now today, we're back to snow-covered here in the Keweenaw. I wonder if it's here to stay yet?

Good Morning Everyone. Wishing everyone who is traveling for Thanksgiving, safe travels. My son got home from Tech safely on Saturday. He said that it snowed the entire way, until he got 2 miles from our house. He was sad that we only had a dusting of snow at home after his trip home. IT is chilly and windy here in mid-Michigan. Have a good day.

Good morning from MN! I think it's a little warmer here today.

Have a great Monday, everybody!

Nice photos; thanks Jim and Mary! Fun to see the James R Barker in the harbor and see on the sign that it holds the record for the largest cargo loaded there.

I like the train pics, especially, and as 4 the snow pic, I think Winter weather is here 2 stay, even in the Lower Peninsula.

Shirley, it looks like a couple of sheep followed the leader early in the morning, without enough caffeine, lol, in response to your question.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 - 09:25 am:

Guess so, Marianne, but wonder what happened to Bob, who was actually the first poster when I signed in. He disappeared.:}

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 - 09:37 am:

That's a good question. I just followed the leader, who disappeared.
