A U.P. miner    ...click to play video

By
Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, November 24, 2013 - 05:40 pm:

With all the Shoebox Memories we've been finding recently over at YouTube, I did a scan this morning for videos that include pictures from pasty.com. Over the 15+ year life of the Pasty Cam, many contributed photos of mining history (and pasty history) have appeared, and Paul Schlegelmann has compiled several of these into a 'day in the life' of a miner and his wife, back in 1919.

One of the frames you'll recognize is our own John Bramble, who has folded countless millions of pasties on our home page since 1996:

John

Know of any other videos out there that include photos from Pasty Central? We would like to recognize them and include a link. Thanks to Paul Schlegelmann, who produced today's Shoebox Memory in his work teaching Digital Photography at Linn-Benton Community College at Albany and Corvallis, Oregon.

We hope you family has a Happy Thanksgiving. Be careful in all your travels. Have a good week :o)

That was fascinating, Charlie. Gives me a little bit of perspective on
what life was like for my Grandpa long ago in the Copper Country.

Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to you and Edie.

I think that first picture probably reminds everybody of their grandparents. It sure does remind me of mine.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Edie, Charlie. Stay safe!

The picture captioned as being the result of a methane explosion underground is incorrect in at least two ways; it's actually from a Hancock Chemical's explosion in Woodside location, and methane was never encountered in our copper mines.
