The forests here UP North in the Keweenaw are looking a little barren with all the leaves on the ground and the ferns turned brown. But there are still some things of beauty to be found, as Barb Bouwkamp shows us here today.

The ferns in Barb's first two photos are dressed in their fall foliage coloring. Not as vibrant as when they're bright green in the midst of summer, but still decorating the forest floor just the same.

That little pine tree in her last photo is just beginning to fill out and I'm sure is aspiring to be grown tall and all filled out some day. It has a few years of growing to do, before it will be ready to decorate someone's home for the Christmas season. Grow little tree, grow!

Have a lot of those ferns in my back field/woods. I guess they're still there ~ haven't been able to walk back there in about 4 years. Mary, you might be surprised at how fast that little pine will grow ~ if the wind doesn't get it, like so many of mine.

I thought the same thing about that tree, Capt. As soon as I scrolled down, all I could think about was Charlie Brown, lol. "It's not such a bad little tree!" And I love ferns during any season. There's just something about them. Those are beautiful!
