The wind has been howling and the waves have been crashing here on the shores of Lake Superior and even with the temperatures pretty chilly, the diehard thrill seekers come out to play. John Dodge said he happened to look out of his Eagle River home, just as these Para surfers were going past and moving quickly. But he was ready with camera in hand when they came back going the other way.
Chilly temps and high winds, means the chill factor drops even more, so these hardy souls donned their wet suits to stay warm in the waters of Lake Superior, as they glided along, surfing the crest of the frothing waves you see in the photos.
There's so much going on in these photos, but it doesn't really strike you that way at first. You notice the para surfer's chute because of the color in the sky, but then as you study the photos further, you see that the waves are really quite big rolling with force toward shore. Then you spot the clouds which are so plentiful in the sky above that they look like waves, too. I bet they were moving across the sky just as fast as the waves and surfers were moving, too.
Quite the day and quite the way to be out on Lake Superior for an adrenaline rush!

Exciting pictures you captured here John! I could almost attempt para-sailing, but maybe in the summer months.
