We all know that the Keweenaw is a great place to live, especially when you appreciate everything that surrounds you, like Joy Ziemnick does. She was out and about in her own back yard, when she snapped today's photos.

Nature's paint pallet is quite astounding in the first and second photos, with the bold color in the oak leaves, not to mention the brilliant blue background the sky made for those two shots. Then Joy stepped back from the trees and gave us a look at them as a whole, showing off the rust and orange hue those leaves took on.

The Mountain Ash trees this year have a bumper crop of berries, as you can see in the bunch that Joy captured. The birds will be enjoying these for quite some time, right into winter. And last, but not least is the Azalea leaves, she snapped, with some of the leaves a bold red, while others still remain deep green.

All this, found right in her own back yard. What a good reminder to stop and take notice of the beauty that surrounds us day by day.

Nice contrast between orange leaves and blue sky, and berries look good enough to eat.

Nice pictures! Last weekend we saw so many mountain ash berries but wasn't sure what they were. So thanks for that, and thanks for sharing these great pictures!
