When Marsha Galbraith and her hubby head north, the Mackinac Bridge is where they make the crossover into the U.P. and head further northwest to their "second" home on the shores of Lake Superior.
On the way there they head through the Marquette area, where in mid-October, the flowers planted along the highway are still blooming and beautifying the curbside.
Then it was on through Michigamme with her camera snapping some shots of the color in the trees. Their next excursion took them further north to the Keweenaw and Lac La Belle in particular. The colors behind the Post Office (mailboxes) there were pretty outstanding and bordering the marina just a short distance away, were more flowers still in bloom and what looks like a few burning bush shrubs.
What wonderful sights to see along their U.P. journey. Marsha's last photo here today is a sign that we're heading deeper into the fall season, since the geese are getting in their V formation and beginning their flight south. I'm guessing the "snow-birds" won't be too far behind them. ;->

Great shots Marsha!
Was watching the Big Mac cams and saw all those dark clouds going thru! You captured the mood!

Good Morning. I love the bright flowers in Marquette and the fall color pictures! Do you happen to know what kind of flowers those are? Thank you, Marsha and Mary for today's photos. I love driving through Michigamme any time of the year. We have not been to that part of Lac La Belle. I would like to do that some time.

These are great shots! Dennis and I have been to all these places so many times, that seeing the pics feels like going home. We love the Keweenaw and can't wait to come back.

Marianne, the red flowers look like salvia, and the lavender ones look like ageratum (sp?) which always remind me of my mother.
I always remember the flowers UP there having the most beautiful, saturated colors.

Great shots, Marsha!! I don't even have to say that I wish I could see it in person, because I did. And it was fabulous!

Great job, Marsha.. I've been watching vees of geese arrive in the marshes of the Outer Banks all week long. Who knows? Maybe they're the same ones you saw.

Glad you all got to enjoy my UP trip of a week and a half ago! I can't resist taking pictures of the flowers in Marquette every time I'm through there. Those geese were flying all over the place, as if trying to decide if they had to leave yet! We kept watching to see if they made a vee and made their decision, but didn't see that happen. Have a great rest of the fall everyone!

Beautiful views!! Thanks, Marsha and Mary. The flowers along the roadside remind me of "Charlevoix the Beautiful" with it's petunia beds along its streets.

Oops, just caught my typo...supposed to be "its petunia beds.." ~ not "it's" (which means 'it is'). I always had strict English/Grammar teachers.;)
