Pasty Cam disclaimer: The colors you see in today's photos were actually photographed four days ago and with the rate the colors are exploding here UP North, that means the actual scenes are even more colorful than what are depicted here.

With that said, the first three photos come to us from Frank Jezek who took a drive to the Porcupine Mountains and Lake of the Clouds to check out the fall foliage colors. You can see in his photos that the color was just beginning to appear, which was about the same here in the Keweenaw, too. But now in the last few days the leaves have really started turning quickly. Stay tuned for next week…we'll have the progression of the colors featured all week, with a revisit to the Porkies to see what it looks like there just a few days later.

The last photo was snapped by Joanie Sinkler, showing off the splash of color this tree made among the greenery that was still prevalent there, too.

I'm no expert on predicting the colors, but I'm guessing we're in the midst of the peak colors right about now, at least on the highways and byways I travel daily.

God's "paint brush" has been busy Shirley. A different kind of fall but the leaves are turning beautiful, as always.
