Last week's electrifying excitement at Keweenaw Heritage Center preempted the original plan, to conclude our grand opening visit to Eagle River's new museum (from the week before). The top photo caught my eye in one of the displays upstairs in the new facility. We have previously shared views of the old fuse factory, but none with the perspective from above Eagle River Falls. This shot looks like something J.T. Reeder would have done from a boat behind the dam. The second shot from the archives (winter) gives you the bridge view, and finally the reverse angle, captured during the fire that destroyed it.
At that dedication two weeks ago, Marcia Mason and choir leader Joanne Bollinger had an adapted version of the song Vive L'Amour, with verses about Eagle River's history. I'll see if I can get a scan of the songsheet you see in the video. The two verses Joanne does in this little clip are about the Fuse Factory and Crestview.
Next time you're passing through Eagle River, perhaps checking out the bridge and the falls, stop over at the new museum. Their current schedule is Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, through mid October.
Good morning, Charlie! The poor fella in the 3rd photo seems to be fighting a losing battle. Looks like a nice place to visit, but unfortunately.....too many miles!

This is why we need to take more pictures of common people, places and things and document them. What we see and do today will be lost if not. Also most peoples idea of a "picture" with the cell phone does not cut it. Thank you to all invloved with the Keweenaw Heritage Center.
