We were watching one of those moths on our flowers the other night. They're so cool to watch, a combination of a moth and a hummingbird. Love them.

The Farmer's Almanac is claiming the 2014 winter prediction for the U.P. as "Biting Cold and Snowy" The rest of the upper midwest "Piercing cold and normal snowfall" We shall see...

Climate change????

If we got biting cold here, it might actually make it to freezing....

I'd love to spend the Winter in Texas!!

Shirley, where in Texas? Corpus Christi? Galveston?
In between are a number of small towns that are just
beginning to cater to snowbirds. That means there are more rental properties than a few years ago.
We have done Texas in the winter via a 5th wheel.
Padre Island is ok if you like barren landscape.
AZ is our current destination.

However, I agree with you about AZ.

Tom, just noticed ~ we almost share a birth date.

I like the Flagstaff area of AZ, but AZ had some nasty wildfires this year, as did much of the western part of the US. Their red highways always intrigued me.

As I have gotten older, I've gotten really spoiled. There is no ideal place to be year around, in my view. I like Texas winters and Michigan summers. It's too bad I can't afford to have two homes. :-)

Flagstaff is a beautiful area, Marianne, but drove through snow there in October in 1984!

Green Valley is our destination in AZ. Many options for rental choices.
We are trying to nail down a place now before they are all taken up. $2000 per month will get you a very nice home.

The Florida Keys make a nice vacation destination in the
winter. We have some nice campgrounds,But they can be
pricey..Key West is the most expensive. Area and best
avoided except for day trips. The middle keys offer.
Everything KeyWest does at better prices and has less
congestion. Living on the islands is very laid back.

Ahem...I wasn't gonna mention that, Tom.;> LOL!
